Above: From 2000-2006 Woody ran the ICOM-706mkII in his Lincoln Town Car.
Often, he was heard on 6, 10, or 12 meter CW using the stock IC-706 microphone (the Up and Down buttons double as a CW keyer on the '706).
A modified Radio Shack CB antenna graces the rear driver's side trunk lip while a 146 mHz and 440 mHz quarter-wave whip are on the rear passenger trunk lip.

Above: Woody could operate 80-10 meter HF as well as VHF and UHF using the installation in his 3/4-ton 4x4 Chevy Suburban. The Heathkit HD-1410 keyer was permanently mounted to the bracket near his right knee. The mobile installation included an Icom-730 HF transceiver, MFJ HF antenna tuner, Yaesu FT-727r VHF/UHF 5-watt HT.
An older pre-cellular IMTS VHF mobile telephone is pictured floor mounted in the right corner along the transmission hump.

Below: During the 1980's, Woody loaded up a large suitcase on a business trip to Berkeley, CA. Setting up on the top floor of a hotel, an ICOM-730, Power Supply, MFJ antenna tuner, and code key kept him entertained into the evening hours.

Using an AC power strip, an electrical eyelet was hooked over the ground prong of the yellow Radio Shack AC wiring verification tool. This provided the ham radio installation building / electrical ground. A washer was tied onto the end of the a long piece of Radio Shack magnet wire and dropped out the window (from three stories up) and then stretched along the bushes below, created an L-shaped antenna.

Although it was not the most amazing installation, it did work and helped while away the evenings away from home. On another trip to New Jersey, a similar installation was consistently thwarted by alert staff at a Residence Inn. Woody would string the antenna wire from his upstairs room balcony into some local trees but, alas, the Residence Inn staff several times cut and removed it.
